Steel Service Oilfield Tubular Inc, a leading distributor of corrosion-resistant tubulars for the oil and gas industry in the USA, has taken a decisive step towards sustainability with the acquisition of 1,000 tons of the first Net Zero-emission seamless tubes in the market from Tubos Reunidos Group. With a long history of supplying high quality tubular solutions, Steel Service has become a benchmark in the industry by providing products that meet the highest technical and operational standards.
With these tubes, called O-Next®, Tubos Reunidos Group has become the first producer in the world to manufacture seamless tubing with Net Zero emissions and responds to its commitment to innovation, sustainability and decarbonization of the industry. These 1,000 tons are in addition to the first 1,000 tons that Tubos Reunidos Group delivered at the end of 2024 to international customers such as Van Leeuwen, Hoberg & Driesch, Commerciale Tubi Acciaio (CTA Group), Grupo Cuñado, Huisman or Buhlmann.
This order, closed in February, represents an important milestone for Steel Service Oilfield Tubular Inc, as it enables the company to offer its customers an exclusive range of seamless steel tubes, unique in the world, manufactured with fossil fuel-free energy, electricity from renewable sources and biogas.
Innovation, sustainability and industrial capacity
This O-Next® project is the result of the industrial and investment commitment that Tubos Reunidos Group has made as part of the company's 2021-2026 Strategic Plan, as well as the sustainability measures it has taken to advance in its decarbonization objectives from the point of view of energy efficiency, reduction of the environmental footprint and circularity. Thus, it is worth highlighting the reunification of the steel mills, which has allowed grouping the first phase of the pipe manufacturing process in a single head-end, with the consequent efficiencies in terms of decarbonization.
Tubos Reunidos Group is already a low-emission manufacturer in the sector, because its production technology is based on electric arc furnaces. In order to develop the first zero-emission seamless tube, in addition to the unification of the steel mills, various initiatives have been implemented, including the use of recycled raw materials and efficiency improvements in the manufacturing process.
